And the verdict is...

Well I have pretty much talked myself out of changing my major. I love younger children and could probably do more with an Early Childhood Education degree than a Middle Grades Education degree. I thank my friends and families for honestly giving their humble opinions and leading me in the right direction!

On another note this weekend has been great! Friday night we ate at Sarah and Bubb's. We had "Fatties", and they were AMAZINGGGGGG! We have never tried them before and they were out of the world! A fattie is a layer of bacon weaved like a basket and laid out. Then on top of that goes hamburger meat and then whatever you would like to add in the middle. It is then rolled up like a log and smoked for 3 hours. Bubb made another rendition with weaved bacon, sausage, granny smith apples, and maple syrup that I was reluctant to try. I did though and it was way better than the hamburger fattie! My Bubb is an awesome 'Cook".

P.S. These are all from my sister. I stole them from here!

Saturday my mama, Sami and I spent most of the afternoon soaking up some rays in the swimming pool. Later than night we met up with some of Mama and Daddy's friends and Sarah and took a trip down to Uvalda to Benton Lee's Steakhouse for a super awesome supper. The steaks my sisters got were HUGE. They both brought back almost as much as would be served at any other restaurant for leftovers!

We took my car to Benton Lee's and let the old folks ride in the RV. We called it the Geriatric Party Bus, we named it that with much love :)
(Another picture stolen from here!)

Today I went to Zack's cousin, Macy's dance recital. I have gone the past three years and have thouroughly enjoyed seeing her dance and improve every year. She did so well this year she'll have to work EXTRA hard to make it any better next year!

To change or not to change.....

My major that is. I have been thinking and talking with friends and family about my future as an elementary school teacher. I am contemplating on changing my major to Middle Grades Education with a primary concentration in Math and a secondary concentration in Science. I can't believe I have never doubted my choice I made four years ago until exactly halfway through college.

One reason for the contemplation of a new major is the fact that there are so many candidates out there for Early Childhood Education. It seems everyone is going that route and with the economy in the shape that it is in many elementary school teachers are being laid off and few are hired.

I love working with younger children and that is where the majority of my experience is from working at daycares and babysitting. It isn't until recently that I have been exposed to middle school students, other than when I was that age myself. I have substituted at the middle school and to my surprise enjoyed it. I am at a point now where I need some advice before I make a final decision.

One major thing that will affect my decision is time. I have busted my butt to stay on track in college and make it out in no more than four years(8 semesters). According to my calculations, I have only taken 3 extra courses so far that do not fit in the MGE curriculum. That puts me 9 hours behind. If I take one course extra each semester I will be caught up. I will take a heavier load than normal but I think I can do it.

Overall, I think either choice I make will be right for me. Either way I will be working with children and that truly is my passion.

Until next time,
Suzi

The rules are:

1) Thank the blogger who presented me with this award…check!

2) Share 7 things about myself.

3) Pass on the award to 15 bloggers I have recently discovered and love!

1) thanks to my Big Sis, Sarah, for the great honor of receiving the award!

2) 7 things about me!
-Although sometimes I want to travel far, far away, I wouldn't trade my little town for the world!
-I LOVEEEEEE kids. I have worked at several daycares and LOVE to babysit. Hence why I am going to school to be a teacher.
-My older sister was my mortal enemy when I was younger but is now my best friend. (Her husband is pretty rad, too!)
-I am anxious to plan my wedding, yet I know that won't be happening anytime soon...I have two more years of college and my boyfriend of three years has MANY more years. He is going to Pharmacy school.
-If teaching doesn't work out for me I'd LOVE to be a full-time, live-in nanny for a rich family somewhere, preferably in Georgia.
-I love pink and zebra. Both together are PERFECT!
-My dream vacation is to fly to the Caribbean and spend a week being pampered in a luxurious resort.

I love zebra and the market tote is super cute! My sister, Sarah, swoons over them every time she sees one..maybe for Christmas ;)

I love my sunglasses. They are ALWAYS on my head or around my neck. Why not add a monogram? I will definitely get good use out of these sunglass holders!

This towel is SUPER cute and with my initials on it there is no way one of my other sisters could claim it as their own!

I like to wear hats when I lay out. These are presh!

Girls night

Tonight was a fun-filled night of SISTER TIME! My sisters and I decided to watch my older sister's wedding video from October 2008(WOW! That's a year and a half ago!). But since the DVD player was having technical difficulties we ended up rocking out to Guitar Hero, during which I discovered I suck. We also played Trivial Pursuit until we called it a night after a few hours! We don't have time with just the three of us enough hopefully we will have another great night together soon!

Here are a few pictures of my sisters and I. Enjoy!
