Daytona: Day 2

Today was a good day. We went to the Daytona Flea Market and had a pretty good time. I think the journey there and back was the most exciting to everyone, even though we love the flea market! I am sure EVERYONE knows it’s race weekend in Daytona and there are MILLIONS of people around. Luckily, we are staying on the beach and not near the Speedway!!

After the flea market, we ate at a nice Italian(yes, two days in a row!) restaurant called Sorrento’s. It was good! Mama had an OUT-OF-THIS-WORLD cheese steak, Daddy had pizza, and Sami and I had sandwiches! Daddy has eaten there before but it was completely new to us and I imagine we will be back.

We haven’t actually stepped foot on the beach since we got here yesterday so we made plans to visit the beach for some fun in the sun after we ate. No sooner than we pulled on the street our condo is on it started raining. The sky was full of blackish clouds. Bummer. Mama and I waited around in the condo just long enough for the clouds to pass and headed out to the beach. We got a good 30 minutes out there to just relax and lounge around and it started raining again. Maybe it will clear up tomorrow and not be windy and rainy I would love to actually spend time on the beach! I leave Monday…YIKES!

Here are some pictures of the condo we are staying in. Not all inclusive pictures, but a little glimpse of it .

Daytona: Day 1

I am making a point to blog about our trip daily. It's only a few days. this shouldn't be so hard, right? I think one of the reasons, besides the fact that I am lazy and enjoy FARRRR to much reading about others lives, that I don't blog is because I feel I have nothing interesting to say. So I'll try it. If you get bored, don't read. Simple as that!

This morning started off pretty good. We decided last night that we were going to leave at 10 this morning to drive "until the map turned blue." So we did. After a mid-morning brunch at Steak and Shake, we headed on. My younger sister, Sami, and I drove my mothers hot, red convertible while Mama rode with Daddy in his truck.

We decided during breakfast that we were just going to go our own ways and meet up in Daytona. This was amazing for us as we could take as many pee breaks as we possibly wanted without calling them and telling them we wanted to stop, etc. So we took our own time and also a different route from them. We went through downtown Jacksonville, which was probably a mistake. The traffic was crazy(remember I am a small town girl!) and it was raining. BLEH. But we made it through and kept on trucking. 3 1/2 hours and one stop later we were getting off of the GLORIOUS exit to Daytona Beach.

Mama and Daddy ended up getting to the condo less than 10 minutes after us, with no stops. ((Neh, Daddy didn't think we could keep up!)) The girls shortly headed out for a Wal-Mart run to get groceries and other miscellaneous items while Daddy hit up some pawn shops and what not. He and Mama have been coming here for years for bike week and we've been here for family vacations as well so Daddy has friends here.

When we arrived back at the condo there was a pizza paper stuffed under our door. There was no question about where we would eat tonight. We loaded back up and headed to Sicily Pizza. When we pulled up I realized that the bathrooms were outside behind the building, not a good sign. This place looked shady to say the least! It was connected to an old beach shop that was obviously closed and had been for years. Yet we preceded in to eat. Mama and I shared a stromboli and Daddy and Sami shared a calzone. The food was pretty good, yet I still was not thrilled about the atmosphere.

Daddy drove us around and we went to a few beach shops before heading back to the condo. Sami and I headed off to Sally's to get some nail polish for her and pink hair dye to touch up my hair. No such luck. Who knew Sally's closed at 7:30PM on a Friday? We ended up getting there at 7:25 and that place was LOCKED UP TIGHT!

We headed back to the condo to wind down and rest up for a nice day at the flea market tomorrow.

Come back tomorrow to hear about Daytona: Day 2. :) ((P.S. I'll try to take at least a few pictures to upload tomorrow! It's so boring with all of these words and no pictures!))

Three more days!

I am so excited about our annual Fourth of July trip to Daytona. :) Mama, Daddy, Sami, and I are leaving Friday to head down to the beautiful shores. Daddy and I have work next week so we will be coming home on Monday, but Mama and Sami are enjoying the beach until next Friday. I am needing a break from EVERYTHING in life.

Until then I am babysitting, babysitting, babysitting! I LOVE IT! I am keeping two different families and working at the daycare the next two days. What could be more exciting than kids? I love babysitting because when you are having fun it doesn't feel like work!

Gotta go get ready for Pretty Little Liars! If you don't watch it, you should check it out!

Opinions???

I have heard these little beauties are supposed to tone you up while you walk. I walk a LOT for school(when it's in session) and wear tennis shoes EVERY day. I think these are totally cute but are they worth the $100-150? If you have these or personally know someone that does let me know what you/they think. Thanks!

I like these silver ones....

((I'm pretty sure Sarah just threw up in her mouth. She has no appreciation for metallics!))
